A Raccoon Solstice
Dec 8-20, 2026

Co-Produced with Theatre Direct

A Raccoon Solstice is an all-ages outdoor winter show with mask, puppetry, and original live music taking place along the West Toronto Railpath. The city of Toronto is keeping the city lights on all night for a shopathon, creating a crisis for Toronto’s raccoons, the protagonists of the show, who thrive in the darkness and celebrate the upcoming Winter Solstice as the longest night of the year. With the help of the audience, the characters must come together despite their differences to save the Winter Solstice and bring darkness and rest back to the city.

This week-long workshop introduces visual and performance artists and curious community members to a creation process that uses physical exploration, sculpting, a medium of their choice (worbla, fabric, papier mache), and painting and finishing techniques to create an original theatrical mask.
