Anand is an improvisor, actor, playwright, director, musician, puppeteer, teacher, and performance artist. He’s worked extensively with VideoCabaret, CORPUS, Second City, Stratford Festival, CanStage, Odyssey, Puppetmongers and others. He created Hys Unauthoryzed Lyfe & Tymes, Communist ‘Til Payday, the award-winning mime narrative, Cowboys & Indians, and many short works. TV appearances include Men With Brooms, Suits, Odd Squad, Working The Engels, Majority Rules, Mira Nair’s Showtime MOW, My Own Country, and others. Canadian films include You Are Here, Suck, Silent But Deadly, Calcutta Taxi, the upcoming features, Look Again, Deepa Mehta’s Beeba Boys, and Ken Finkelman’s God & Country. Spring 2015, he played Dogsberry in the Tarragon Theatre’s Much Ado About Nothing. He directed the premiere of a new play, Grow Up, Juliet, for the SoCap Theatre’s Short Short Play Festival. With help from grants from the Ontario Arts Council and The Canada Council, he will be going to India soon to study the unique South Indian performance form, Kathakali.
