Postcard 10

End of Quarantine! Stepped into the outside world. Actually “belt-ed out”. Had a walk with KL.  We held opposite ends of a leather belt – offers social distance and sighted guide all in one.

Walked through the Necropolis (fancy word meaning large cemetery). It’s small (funny)…

The city air felt fresh and clean in my lungs. Not as I remember.

Breathe – breathe – the outside air….

Now, everybody get inside!

My talking computer stopped talking. Couldn’t see the screen, hear the screen, smell the screen. I sat clueless. It felt like my computer tip toed to the corner of the room, then pointed and laughed.

Pen and paper are just as good if not better.

Who needs you, accessible technology!

Me.

Uncertainty – Relying on that which is fragile – Abandonment.

There’s a lot of it going around.

Picked up my deodorant, then thought – why?

Interesting. What toiletries do I need during a pandemic?

Tinted moisturizer – no.

Soap – yes!!! (three exclamation marks)

Hair gel – depends who’s on Zoom

Toothpaste – yes, need teeth to eat

Tweezers – negotiable

Hand moisturizer – all that soap? Possibly

Mouthwash – no

Sunblock – no – we now live in caves

Nail clippers – yes!! (two exclamation marks)

Nail clippers! Who knew that nail clippers would be an essential item… Wait. I knew, I’m a lesbian.

Happy Days

KL, MH, and LC “Zoom read” a Beckett play.

I sat in my kitchen and played “the audience”.

Think it was Beckett who wrote “Don’t touch me, don’t question me, don’t speak to me. Stay with me!”

Spoke with my mother. She told me she went to a meeting at a church to talk about her headstone, and make sure there was space for me too. Doesn’t going out to a meeting about a headstone increase the chance that you’ll need one?

Today’s news – I feel like I’m being chased by doom.

LC came and we “belt-ed out”. We found an abandoned wading pool. LC stood still and I ran. In circles.

Is it Tuesday?

Postcard 16

Image Description: Mouths talking (one mouth has a little spittle)

New trends in conversation:

“Next week I’m on leave – at home”

“Congratulations, you finished your quarantine”

“Sorry, that’s my husband, he’s taken up guitar”

“An Easter egg hunt is not worth your life”

“Just putting on a clean pair of pyjamas!”

“Speaking moistly”

“Hey – look – an airplane”

“Do you have what you need?”

“Is it social distancing or physical distancing?”

“Stop. Hold it! Stop!! We can’t hear you!!!”

Pick one to keep post pandemic.

A reassuring thought…

From now on, I won’t have to find the words to explain how it feels to be isolated.

Politicians have proclaimed the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy as essential services.

Please can this be how they talk forever.
